Stephan Bundi
Born 1950 in Trun (GR), Switzerland
Stephan Bundi graduated as a graphic designer from the Bern School of Design and trained at Young & Rubicam. After working for several years as a designer in an advertising agency, he began studies in book design and illustration at the State Academy of Art and Design in Stuttgart. He then went into business for himself opening the Atelier Bundi in Bern and later in Boll, outside of Bern.
Stephan Bundi is active as an art director and designer for publishers, theatres, concert promoters, film producers and museums, as well as in the field of consumer and investment goods and PR advertising.
In 1980, he began teaching graphic design at the Biel School of Design and later at the Bern School of Design. Since 1999 he has worked as a lecturer in visual interpretation (illustration) at the new Bern University of the Arts and is also a guest lecturer and expert at different art and design schools around the world.
His work has appeared and been documented in numerous publications. He is the winner of a Swiss national prize for design and of several awards for poster, book and CD programme design. He was a first-prize winner at the International Poster Triennale in Mons, Belgium and a silver prize winner at the International Poster Biennale in Korea. He was awarded the Icograda Excellence Award at the 20th International
Poster Biennale in Warsaw.
Collections/exhibitions: Bibliothèque nationale de France, Museum of Modern Art (NY), Die Neue Sammlung (Munich), Design Museum (Kyoto), among others. Regular participation at important poster biennials.
